BLOB stands for Binary Large OBjects. Typically a BLOB would be used for storing bitmap images, diagrams, audio clips, scanned documents or very large text components. One thing that the UDB/400 addresses (as of 10/29 I believe) is that currently the BLOB is not stored in the database; instead a pointer to a file containing the BLOB is stored in the database. Another limitation has been the historic 16 Meg limit on BLOB's that I believe V4R4 eliminated as of May....
