Joe,

I have also been struggling with API examples in given in "C" for TCP/IP
Sockets and code page conversion.  My understanding is a new Red Book is due
out that will give these examples in RPG.  Hopefully IBM will also include
the RPGLE source members for all the APIs that are currently only given in
"C".  I went out and purchased a book "C for RPG programmers" by Jennifer
Hamilton, published by Duke Press, ISBN 0-9628743-6-1.  It has been a big
help for me.  The main gotchas I found is remember to Null Terminate all
strings passed to the "C" APIs.

If you are familiar with pointers and basing pointers you should have no
trouble translating the procedure interfaces to RPGLE.

I have set a couple of protection schemes on an AS/400
(V4R2) and they work great. One will be Intranet only,
so I'm using the system User Profiles and Passwords. I
want to use a Validation List on the other one. I created
the object, but am struggling with the APIs to work with
the entries (add, remove, find). Has anyone written a
maintenance program for this purpose that would like
to share the code? The only example in the manuals is
written in C and I do not know C nor do I have access to
the C compiler.
