C            ' '         CHECK    JDEDTA       X

If X > 0, X contains the position of the FIRST non-blank character in the
field JDEDTA.

C            ' '         CHEKR    JDEDTA       X

As a side note, CHEKR will find the LAST non-blank character in a field.
