Dave, why do you say it became obsolete? I sent a post to this list about
two weeks ago requesting opinions on switching from remote outqueues to
print devices and the only reponses I got were DON'T GO THERE.

So I guess my question is... do you like to use the print devices? Is it
just because you gain the page range functionality, or are there other
reasons for your preferences?

Thanks.

Rommy,

There is no page range support if you connect a printer via a remote output
queue with CNNTYPE(*IP). To get page range support you need to define an IP
printer device. This will have DEVCLS(*LAN) LANATTACH(*IP)
RMTLOCNAME('10.10.10.4'). The LAN device attaches to a standard output queue
via a standard print writer.

I used to have a freeware routine that would give you pagerange support on
remote TCP/IP output queues, but it became obsolete once IBM added the LAN
device support, and I don't think I have the source any more.
