Also, the one thing you have to remember about java, is it's an interpreted
language.  Remember BasicA and how slow they ran?  Until you compiled
it to native with QuickBasic, then it ran fast.

Any interpreted language is going to have some overhead, especially when
you are trying to do as much as java is.
