If you take the AS/400 out of the equation and think about LAN to LAN
connection (main to remote) then any vendor can help you with a solution.
We have a remote site across town where our mirrored AS/400 is but the 2
AS/400's aren't hard connected, the LAN's that they reside on are connected.
Main site has LAN with router to T-1 to remote to router to LAN with remote
AS/400 on LAN.  We even supply email and Internet (not AS/400) to users at
the remote LAN.  Remember, a LAN is a topology it does not require a server
only a hub.
With TCP/IP you can have it all.
