Yes. This is potentially a problem any time you have mechanical devices 
that spin constantly for a long time. Bearings/bushings deteriorate over 
time, and as big blue says, results will be unpredictable. It won't happen 
frequently, but how much are you willing to wager that it won't happen to you?
