Hello Rob,
That is normal behaviour.
A job on a job queue cannot possibly have spooled OUTPUT files but it can have
spooled INPUT files. These are commonly called inline data files because the
data is INLINE in
the job stream. Anyone else remember the Submit Database Job (SBMDBJOB)
command? Here is an
example. Type the following into a source member -- type should be CL, not CLP
(don't worry
about SEU telling you the command is not allowed);
//BCHJOB JOB(MYJOB)
CRTCLPGM PGM(DELETEME) SRCFILE(QINLINE)
//DATA FILETYPE(*SRC)
PGM
ENDPGM
//
//ENDBCHJOB
Then HOLD one of your job queues and use SBMDBJOB to spool the job via the
reader using the job
queue you held. You could also specify a job description that has HOLD(*YES)
defined. Use
WRKSBMJOB and take 8=Spooled files. You should see something like:
Display Job Inline Data Files
Job . . . . . . . . : MYJOB Job queue . . . . . : QBATCH
User . . . . . . . : QPGMR Library . . . . . : QGPL
Number . . . . . . : 129174
File Records
QINLINE 2
There will be one list entry for every //DATA statement in the CL source. You
will only see
this display while the job is on the job queue. Once it becomes active, the
inline files have
been processed and the display shows spooled output files.
Remember to release the job queue when you're done.
Hmm, I guess that really does qualify me as a geezer. Why does the system work
this way?
Well, that's a story for another time.
Regards,
Simon Coulter.
