After awhile doesn't it seem like we're splitting hairs?  Everything said is 
probably technically correct.  However, can you imagine trying to explain this 
to your CEO after either all of your 400 data is fried, or much damage has been 
done from an item stored on the AS/400's disk to several PC's in your 
organization?

Well, if a Microsoft macro is attacking the AS/400, the AS/400
is being effected by the virus, but is not the host of it.

Any virus that attacks a PC can totally wipe out your AS/400,
true.  Such as deleting the library QSYS.  But the AS/400 is not
hosting the viruses.

Although if the files are stored on an AS/400 stored drive, it is
kinda iffy.  The virus is stored on the AS/400, but the AS/400,
in this case, is just being used for DASD.  Any DASD can
store viruses, I don't think there is any way around that.  They are
just not processed on the AS/400.  You still need a PC to activate
them.
