AS/400s being auctioned at Egghead.com

The following web page lists 13 AS/400s being auctioned today at
Egghead.com...

Current price of the bids ranges from $171 to $251, plus shipping and
handling of $155 in the US.  Note that the systems are being sold with no
operating system!!!  What would you do with the AS/400 without the OS, and
is there a process for buying the OS independantly?  Is the lack of an OS
why the bids are so low???
