Good news for those of us that may not have our own AS/400 but rely on
others (like clients) to do programming. The folks in the Toronto lab have
arranged with Realexpress to sell VARPG and CODE400 to individuals without a
serial number or IBM customer number. Check out www.realxpress.com and send
a request to order it as it is not on their web site yet. When I placed my
order they told me it would ship in a couple of days, we'll see.

I have used VA/RPG here (although not too much - we bought it to
evaluate/use
and so far a 'real' use hasn't presented itself). I did however convert an
ILE
CL/RPG suite to VARPG in about 1.5 hours and was very impressed with the
ease
and result (the suite uses DDM data areas, DDM files, local files & data
areas,
and journals). I intend to put it to 'proper' use as soon as I can.

Rgds,
Dave
PS. The CODE/400 suite's pretty good too !
