If you listen to the trade journals and magazines, you would think that
the sky was going to fall each Thursday. The vast majority of AS/400
accounts
pay scant attention to announcements or magazines. They will continue to
grow and evolve in a natural way with little or no help from industry
pundits or salesmen.

Since 95% of their informtion comes from IBM, you can rest assured that
it
is misinformation, wild speculation, or even wag(wild ass guess). What
gets
ordered is what will determine the direction of any product, not some
hair
brained ideas dreamed up by a marketing type.

Does anybody really think that business in general will decide one day
that
all their applications are written in the wrong language and they will
rewrite everthing in a "modern" language ??

Do you really think all the thousands of small business in this country
are gonna decide that they can't live without a web site ??

When was the last time you heard the owner of a company say,
"Why aren't we using unix/linux for our applications ??"

What was the last company you heard of that made "1" dime on E-commerce
??

Call State Farm,Allstate,Farmers Insurance companies and ask them when
they
plan on changing their thousands of AS/400's to a more hip machine with
snazzy applications that their people will like better.

Try to keep things in perspective and you'll be fine.

Just my grumpy opinion.
