Thank you very much.  I'll have to delve into that manual.  I was 
adding procedures in areas of utility which basically changed the 
order of procedures in the service program.  That is what probably 
resulted in a whomp to the head.

To handle 'previous signature support' you use binder language.  The ILE
Concepts manual has some examples.  Essentially, you define the current list
of exports and any number of previous lists of exports that are supported.
When you add procedures to the service program the existing programs that
use that service program will work fine without needing recompiled or
rebound.  Be aware that you cannot change the order of the existing exported
procedures and the new ones have to be added at the end or you can get some
strange results (I've been there and it can be really 'interesting').  It is
a fairly easy concept to use but if you need additional help let me know.
