Unknown at the time. W.O.P.R. was running Windows 95.

It crashed during the simulated invasion, and when it was rebooted,
_Microsoft_ had won the war and taken over the world.

W.O.P.R. was the name of the computer in Wargames.  It simulated global
thermonuclear war, as well as chess.  In the movie, a hacker breaks in and
nearly starts world war three by faking an attack of the US by China and
the Soviet Union.

Great movie,  Bad computers  (although it did have lots of really cool
color lights on it that blinked alot.)
