Spool Files from AS/400 to email

I discovered an old (1995) news 400 article about downloading spool files
from the as/400 to email.  It requires creating an generic/text printer
through control panel, select file as the port for this printer.   Now you
just have to move the as/400 report to this printer, it will come up asking
you for a name to save it to and what folder.  Now you can attach it to any
email, or any other application you might want it is just a PC document.
HOWEVER when I did this the file does not come out right it prints down the
page diagonally.
