We move files back and forth and use ftp however if you need security in your ftp process you need to know that the password is in clear text. As for where to keep them, QDLS or shared folders is also not to secure depending on you situation, so a private library would be a better choice. Programming wise, you could just created some file definitions to hold the data, then cpyf the ftp'd data to them (don't forget the NOCHK option). Also consider pulling the data from the NT, that way you can automate the process in a CL.
