Kirk, 

You can use a rmtoutq straight to the IP address if
you like, but as of V4R2 (I think, it may even be an
earlier release) you can print to an IP address with a
local writer. You have to specify DEVCLS(*LAN) on the
device description. We do this with HP printers and it
works well. This method actually bypasses the Novell
queue. 

As for IPX, we used to use a Novell product called
Hostprint. It sat on a 486 PC, accepted SNA
communications from the AS/400 and then sent it to a
Novell queue via IPX. I don't know if it's possible
directly from the AS/400. It worked well but required
some administration on the Hostprint side. The PC that
was running Hostprint was set up as a Novell 3 server.
We used to print to Novell 4 print queues. I know
there is a more recent product of this nature from
Novell, but I'm not sure if they still call it
Hostprint. We switched to the method above which
removed the need for the Novell product in the middle.
You may find the first method better in the long run
as each Novell release seems to move closer to TCP/IP,
rather than IPX/SPX. Novell 5 can be configured (if
you want to) to use only TCP/IP.
