He spoke of what he called "battleship marketing" and how Lotus is so mad at them for taking over the Lotusphere conferences recently, including renting limos and hummers, blimps, and buying out an airport's billboards. He gave all 700+ of us Maglights with "AS/400" on the side. He spoke of more advertising to come, but all being targeted to specific buying influences. Frankly I came away thinking they might not get it exactly right but at least they are screaming "AS/400" in really loud voices. _______________________ Booth Martin boothm@earth.goddard.edu http://www.spy.net/~booth _______________________ nina jones <ddi@datadesigninc.com> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 04/03/2000 08:51 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com cc: Subject: Re: MAKEMONEY cmd > Nina, You should have heard Dr. Soltis talk about Magic Box. Did you know they just gave away a Corvette? you mean the new as/400 campaign? maybe i'm dense, but i can't see how someone meditating in the desert with a computer says anything about why you should buy that computer. or dancing schoolgirls! really! we've been hammered with the fact 'you need an open system' without really being told why. but there is something attractive in fact, about getting a computer that fits together seamlessly, rather than pieces patched together. like a point and shoot camera. you'd think that would mean something to execs. but i didn't know about the corvette. and i sure didn't win it. nj +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
