After checking out Brad Stone's suggestions you might want to try
reconfiguring the FTP client to run in passive mode.

Hi all,

  Our Novell network guys upgraded the Novell Client on my PC and now all my
ftp
client software (ftp.exe, wsftp-pro, bluezone) hangs (or maybe never gets a
response) with I try to ftp to the 400.  I can ping it ok so it appears the
connectivity is there.  I can also ftp to external internet addresses ok.
The
Client Version they installed is 3.1.0.0 SP2.  Any network savvy folks know
something I can check?
