Actually, for a few bucks a month you can have an AS/400 logon with all the stuff you need if I understand correctly. There's no need for you to be saddled with operating system problems or with networking. Just get an account and develop to your heart's content. _______________________ Booth Martin boothm@earth.goddard.edu http://www.spy.net/~booth _______________________ Colin Williams <colin.williams@technocrats.co.uk> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 04/25/2000 07:54 AM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: "'MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com'" <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: RE: Processor speed "the AS/400 has minimal ability to compete in the entry-level market for developers" I think we knew this, you have to pay through the nose to get the decent development tools for the AS/400, and for the AS/400 itself, which means developers find it unaffordable unless they have to backing of an established company. Theres no way I as an individual can afford to buy a '400 and the various tools I need to create a whizz-bang utility, tool or app. Thats why i'm learning C++, and soon Java and Visual Basic on a PC, because I can afford to buy those tools, and if I can't I can beg or borrow. People will lend me a PC and some software for a few weeks or months. +-- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
