I am using Access 2000. I created a File DSN using Client Access's Data
Source Administration. I am able to select the file I want to link to on
the AS400 as well as view and select the key fields in those files. The
error is on the Microsoft Access side: "Reserved Error (-7778); there is no
message for this error" and "Access cannot open the table in datasheet
view." Nor can it open it in any other view. I attempted to create a form
to view the data there, but I receive the same error. Any help would be
appreciated.

What specific error message are you getting? What version of Access are you
using? Which ODBC?

I am unclear on where the error is popping up. Are you getting an AS/400
signon window? Are you seeing a list of file names available from your
library list to be imported?

We were getting an error where we would select the AS/400 file and click
Import; after about 5-10 seconds, an error window would appear, something
about a "file unavailable" or somesuch, even though the file was not at all
allocated on the AS/400. Our fix was to reinstall Access.

I highly doubt that the drive letter issue is a problem.
