I am familiar with QUSRTOOL, but what is this "examples tool" library supplied by IBM that you are referring to? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2000 10:38:54 -0700 From: "Lemen, George (Contractor)" <george.lemen@weyerhaeuser.com> Subject: Anyone using tool TSPLPRD? Is anyone using the TSPLPRD tool (or a locally modified version) for production printing? If so what has your experience with this tool been (either positive or negative)? Responses "off line" are OK (my addresses are given below). TSPLPRD is distributed on (at least) OS/400 V4 in the example tools library. It uses the print API exit(s) for ASCII printers attached to an LPD server. It replaces the native function with support that (for SCS only) supports AS/400 generated separator pages and honors print attributes like print page ranges. As delivered by IBM, you have to have a C/400 compiler to create it. I have successfully created and done preliminary testing on it, so I'm really interested in long term experience using this tool. If anyone in IBM is listening: * This seems to fill some glaring holes we have run into using the native LPR support. The "page ranges" and "AS/400 generated separators" are items needed in our environment. Adding that support to the native function would be a welcome addition! * To whoever wrote TSPLPRD: It appears that some changes have been made through at least V4R4. Thanks for what appears to be a current, WORKING example! Best regards George Lemen Sr. Technical Consultant, CIBER Inc.
