There is a book by Wayne O Evans on AS/400 Security by midrange computing
that discusses this as well. Basically, change your security auditing
system values,
capture the journalled changes, and monitor for those type codes and
programs
that use machine instructions. If you do not have any software packages
that
use machine instructions, you should not have too many problems. If there
are
some software packages that you use that do this, it may be a little tougher

going to Level 40. I would monitor this for a few weeks before implementing
a
change.

Subject: QSECURITY Level 40

Is there a URL out there that shows step by step the requirements for
changing from QSECURITY 30 to 40? Pros/Cons? Anyone who's gone
through this? Is it worth it?

I know this has been kicked around before on this list, but I'm thinking
about turning it on this weekend. Is there enough time to get ready
(two/three days)?

Thanks!
