I still use a DOS based billing system for my pager business. It was
written in DataFlex. I keep an old 386 to run it on because I have had
trouble printing to the dot matrix printer (needed to print the bills) from
the DOS window in WIN95. As long as the program functions to my needs, I
figure why change?

By the way (off topic, I know), is anyone working with DataFlex files? I
could use an ODBC driver that will read them so that I can do some custom
reports. If you can help, send private e-mail to jgiusto@patuxent.com

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints still uses DOS. The
financial, membership, calendaring, and other systems used in most
congregations are DOS based. Their popular Personal Ancestral File
(Genealogy) program is DOS based. Several of the "Family History"
systems are DOS based.

Is the church anti-technology? No. On the contrary, the church also has
some of the most modern systems available.

I can only speculate that many of their systems are DOS based because the
church feels the resources it would take to upgrade to Pentium-Windows
systems would be better spent elsewhere. From personal experience,
I can say the DOS based software is high quality.
