Mark,

There are a couple of ways of doing this. You can use the sockets 
gethostaddr() function to make sure the domain portion of the email address 
is valid. You can also use a mail abuse list to see if the domain has been 
listed. I'm not aware of any way to directly validate a specific email 
address. What most folks do is specify a reply-to address that is used to 
accumulate returned mail. If you have an email product on your AS/400 that 
supports automatically processing received messages you can implement 
automated updating of the list of email addresses. Net400's product can do 
this.
