RE: pass parms to qry400

This works, BUT - the doc states you can do a "like", how does that work, I
cannot seem to get the % and the : to work together in the query to get to
the dependent value screen, so that I can pass a string to query manager to
allow it to "search" through a file for say customer name containing
"RED"...

Is that possible, or would you be better off in your RPG using a user
controlled file with a dynamic opnqryf that you build on the fly and
open/close the file you are looking at???

Just a thought for a project I am on to make searching easier for the users
who only know partial names of customers....  that way will work, but I like
to try new things...

Al and anyone else who thinks that parameters can't be passed to Query/400:

Go to http://as400service.rochester.ibm.com .  Expand the "Tech Info &
Databases" line in the left frame, then choose "Software Knowledge Base".
Search for document number 6515952, "Passing Parameters to a Query/400
Query".  This document has pretty straightforward step-by-step instructions,
and should answer your questions.

I've posted these instructions for finding this document twice to
comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc , and other people have posted detailed links that
are supposed to go directly to the document, both here and there.  IT CAN BE
DONE!
