I am in the process of converting from the HOSTS table (on each PC) to using
DNS to resolve IP addresses. We have 25 devices in our network that I have
to constantly change whenever the network changes. I have read several
threads here about being careful to not mess this up and have our ISP shut
us down until we get it straight.

We have an internal network with private IP addresses that are mapped to a
router which uses NAT to get to the internet. We have one IP address that
is mapped straight through the router to serve our web site.

Can I simply go to the as/400 DNS and add the internal IP address and
correct computer names and have that work to resolve IP addresses for our
applications that are on our intranet? These are applications that are not
served by our web server but by our as/400.

I hate to sound like a rookie but it took quite awhile to get our network
working correctly when we first brought up our as/400 and I would hate to
mess this up and be down for a few days... any help is greatly appreciated.
