Subject: AS/400 Communications Line

1. Check QHST - DSPLOG QHST (to a print, then wrksplf & scan for line name).
If you find entries for your line
CPC2608 00 COMPLETION Vary off completed for line DOBYLIN.
                      QPADEV0005 EMILY 633530
The user EMILY did it.
or
CPI593D 70 INFO Line DOBYLIN failed. Automatic recovery started.
                      QSYSARB QSYS 633356
06/30/00 AS/400 did it
2. Check joblogs for system jobs QCMNARBxx and QSYSARBxx. Look in
wrkactjobs as well as outq qezjoblog.

3. Find all the Line Descriptions using this resource. WRKHDWRSC *CMN, then
option 5 (wrk config descriptions) on the port in question (same resource
name in your line description).
 Opt Resource Type Status Text
CMB01 9164 Operational Combined function IOP
         LIN01 2720 Operational Comm Adapter
  5 CMN02 2720 Operational V.24 Port
         LIN02 2721 Operational Comm Adapter

HTH - the next step is a comm trace, but I find 99.9% problems with the
above.
