I think dead may be too strong a word here.  I suspect SEU will be
around and supported "forever".  My *guess* is that it will continue
to have things like syntax checking maintained to stay current.  It
just won't have a lot of enhancement dollars thrown at it.  

To be honest, I think that is fair.  A block mode interface has
inherent limitations over an intelligent workstation.  I think IBM has
actually done remarkably well with SEU, given the hardware
constraints.  But I'd much rather see them spend dollars on enhancing
CODE then on SEU/RLU/SDA.

I will concede maintaining things like syntax checking in SEU to keep
SEU at it's current level of functionality may be acceptable.
