RE: Converting FileMaker Pro 4.1 files from Mac to AS/400

I have converted comma delimited filemaker pro files and had to write a few
programs to go through the data and parse it out.  Part of the problem was a
few "free" form fields that people just keyed in anything they wanted which
included special characters and a host of other things.  I tried a bunch of
different ways to get the incoming data to look consistent but in the long
run I ended up creating a flag field in the existing data (byte 1) that I
set if I just couldn't figure the data out and had the users manually key
the correct information via green screen.  If you want I could give you the
programs I used...
