Well, since each access path must be changed individually, there's no need to remove logical file members. CHGPF and CHGLF to *MAX1TB. Be aware that the access path is rebuilt by the QDBSRVxx jobs and cannot be access while the rebuild is in progress. You may want to phase this in over a period of time to minimize downtime. (24x7 shop may not be able to manage this). You can maximize the benefits by determining which access paths are most used. As to how long, it's hard to know. It depends on CPU model and number of processors, memory resources, workload, record length, key structure, etc. EDTRBDAP command will try to estimate the rebuild time, but I've found this to be an overly optimistic guess, and not a real estimate at all. All in all, you can bet on a LOOOONNNNGGGGGGG weekend or more to do all 50+ access paths. Also, I'm not sure what happens to shared access paths when converting from *4GB to *1TB access paths. We converted one here recently and got ourselves into trouble. We started the conversion on a 3 GB file after our nightly backup at 4:30am and it ran until 11:00am and severly limited access to our applications til it completed. This was on a 640 uni-processor model. hth eric.delong@pmsi-services.com ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Help!!!!! Access path size Author: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> at INET_WACO Date: 8/2/00 10:31 PM We need to know the fastest possible way to convert the access path size attribute on an 16GB file that has over 50 logicals attached to it with an additional 45GB. What method do you know and how long do you think it will take. I will appreciate any and all input regarding this task. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
