If you got it in March 1999 you have one of the bad ones.

You're one up on me. The 3 year EMO we bought from IBM does not cover the
UPS. That is supposedly a separate agreement with Best that the BP forgot
to tell us about.

> Were you able to find "official" documentation that it's defective?

The closest I got to "official" was this message from Al Barsa in the
archives from last year:

 >Well, it's interesting that you should ask this question. I presume that
 >your UPS is a 9910.

 >If so, it is defective. The first generation of 9910's (manufactured by
 >Best Power) had defective microcode. The fix is to report it to
 >service. The service person will have to do a mechanical replacement on
 >these units.

 >If you get static from service, contact me privately, and I will get the
 >name of the person in Rochester who set me straight.

 >Al

This pretty much convinced me it was a "known" defect.
Now I don't know for sure the date range on the "first generation" 9910's
or if mine would fit that time period or not. Mine was delivered in March
1999.

If you get a chance, search the midrange-L archives for UPS or 9910 and
tell me if it looks to be more than just a coincidence!

Thanks.
