One field is variable due to the number of fields in the file.  If there are
4 fields, it has a value of 4.  If there are 8 fields, it has a value of 8.
If you keep "the rest of the stuff" outside of the file record constant, the
only thing that you should have to change is this variable field ( I think
that it is called the null map field).  Once you have a few programs that
use this (although I probably wouldn't recommend doing this all over the
place), adding new programs shouldn't be that difficult.

Hi All!

When creating a trigger program (in RPG/ILE) there is a variable length
section that contains the before and after image of the record that is
changed.  I know how to access them with the offsets.

My question is:  How is the length of the data structure (for the first
parameter of the trigger program) calculated?  I always have to make the
data area ridiculously large, then go into debug mode to see where it ends.
Is there a way to do this programmatically?  Any thoughts are appreciated.
