Just a couple of other questions beside the suggestion to check on PTF's

What release are you on?
What hardware do you have in place?
How is the remote printer "physically" attached?
What brand/model is the remote printer?

Also another suggestion "if" you can - say for example you have an HP2100TN
with just a jet-direct card
running over Ethernet attached to your NT server with a static IP address,
shared, current firmware
and drivers - You could instead of a remote outq, do a crtdevprt as device
class *lan, type 3812, model 1,
lan attachment *ip, port number 9100, font 011, form feed *autocut, printer
error message *info, activation timer 30,
inactivity timer *sec30, line speed 38400, host print transform *yes,
manufacturer type and model *HP5, image configuration *imga03, remote
location is the static ip address you assigned it on NT, and the system
driver program of *hppjldrv. Then simply varycfg your new device and
start the writer and viola you can print everything except ipds and afpds
data streams and get messages on the AS/400 back from the printer (paper
out, power off - more cryptic than a "real" printer, but you can at least
specify page ranges and "see" what is on the outq for the device.

Subject: Remote Printer Problem

We have a remote printer (Outq) that the spool file status is *SND
but nothing at all is happening. What should I be looking for to determine
the casue of the problem?

Thanks,
