By "free", I assume you mean it wont cost you any money. Vs, some trick to
make it happen with no programming effort.

The first method is:

CRTPF QTEMP/TEMP RCDLEN(132) /
OVRDBF PrintFileName TOFILE(QTEMP/TEMP) LVLCHK(*NO) /* Note: This is
ovrDBF, not ovrPRTF */

And QTEMP/TEMP will have all of your data. However, you will loose your
page breaks and line feeds. And if the print file is internally described,
you probably wont come even close to getting what you want.

The second method is:

CRTPF QTEMP/TEMP RCDLEN(134) /* 2 larger than print width */
OVRPRTF PrintFileName HOLD(*YES)
Call pgmToCreatePrint
CPYSPLF PrintFileName TOFILE(QTEMP/TEMP) CTLCHAR(*FCFC)
ENDSPLF PrintFileName SPLNBR(*LAST).

QTEMP/TEMP will now have all the data you need. You can write a pgm that
will translate the FCFC formatted info into blank record lengths, HTML, etc
to suite your purposes. This most likely would be a fairly easy
pgm...depending on the final form you want.

Is there a "free" way to print directly to a file at the spooler level? For
example, I generate a spool file and it goes into my default outq, the outq
in turn formats the file and pushes it to a physical either on the IFS. Any
help would be appreciated.
