We do a data purge here periodically to reduce our main file sizes. When we
purge records we move them from the production file to a history file. We
generally
go off the Vessel Arrival Date to determine which records to purge. Of course,
our
files are linked with other files which also have to be purged when the main
file is
purged. We have to chain to the other files and look for related records in
other
files and purge those.

Purging related files is probably what your customer means by a "unified" purge.

Jim Langston
