Thanks for the reply - again - I only have one interface- wanting to change the 
mask only on the one interface I'm running on - will doing so make the box 
apply the update automatically?  I find it hard to believe it could do that 
without reinitializing the interface.

Nope,  Just add a new TCP/IP address to any of your interfaces and start it.
No re-booting or start/stopping necessary.  This is not WinXX.

We are going to readdress the network that our 400 sits on to use a
different subnet mask - actual host address will stay the same.

Anyone know if the machine needs to be physically restarted, do I need to
stop/start the Ip stack - any work at all?
