Chris, As far as I know there is no ODBC client for the AS/400. Many relational databases support IBM's DRDA interface. Since RS/6000 is an IBM product you might look in this direction. If DRDA is supported on the RS/6000 it would not be too hard to map a remote database directory from the AS/400. We normally take the approach of using a socket client/server on the AS/400 and UNIX (NT, etc.) system. The UNIX application uses the SQL CLI interface to talk to the relational database. Sockets is supported on all flavors of UNIX. And SQL CLI is an ANSI standard and is supported by all the major relational databases. The performance on this approach tends to be good, too.
