Thanks to all of you that gave me suggestions for setting up a new printer on our AS400 - every person who replied seemed to have a good suggestion about this. Our AS400 runs JDE and is used more and more as a database only - all our new development is on the JDE NT based front end - that means there is more stuff going to the printer in PDF format from NT than from AS400. It looks like the users are really wanting a multifunction printer to share in the office (espicially fax from desk) and the AS400 side is limited to printing standard text reports and thats it, until JDE green screen is phased out completely and we run on JDE OW completely. No stapling, no preprinted stationary, no factory conditions or anything like that from the AS400 printing. I'm going to have another look at their requirements and compare HP offerings with the sharp and cannon printers they are considering now. thanks again, Lerwick > From: Lerwick.Harding@alstom.co.nz > Hi, > > Our company is looking at buying a canon or sharp printer to lan attach to > our as400. > > I cannot seem to find any documentation on whether or not AS400 supports any > printers other than IBM printers. > > I know HP and other printers work - but how can I tell whether or not a > particular printer will work with our AS400 before I buy it? > > thanks for any ideas, > > Lerwick Harding > Alstom NZ +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
