Al, I must disagree. 

You see, if IBM was to market the AS/400 then they would make lots of money.
If IBM made lots of money then Wall Street would be happy. If WS was happy
people would buy IBM stock. If people bought IBM stock then IBM's  Employee
Stock Options would be worth something. If the options were worth something
then the employees would cash them in. And finally... if they cashed in the
options then IBM could take advantage of marvelous loopholes in the tax code
that allow IBM to write the value of the options off against income and
avoid paying taxes on it. It's a great little loophole if you can take
advantage of it.
