What I meant when I said "WRONG" to your posting, was that you were wrong to say "WRONG" to Bruce Vining's posting, as there was nothing WRONG with what he said in his posting ! There - is that clear as mud (or IBM's e(logo)server ad campaign) now ! :-)

OK - sorry, maybe my definition of "very old stuff" and your definition differ a little. I guess my definition is influenced by age (I'm not saying, but I have been working on Rochester "midrange" products since 1972). :-)
I was referring to the old QUSRTOOL (TAATOOLs until V3R1) as "very old stuff", and the code currently in QUSRTOOL as "newer stuff" (like ZSAVSPLF, ZRSTSPLS etc). The stuff currently in QUSRTOOL is newER than the TAATOOLs that were in QUSRTOOL until V3R1.
Starting with V3R2 (and V3R6 on RISC I believe) the TAATOOL's were removed from QUSRTOOL when they were sold by IBM to Jim Sloan, who was their developer while at IBM.
Of course there are now many newER (fully supported) TAATOOL's available from Jim Sloan Inc. www.taatool.com
As for the 1998 dates, that's when V4R4 was created (although released in 1999).

Which ones. I am on V4R4 and when I look at the tools they are dated 1998 or earlier. The doc. Does not say anything about V4

Wrong Marie. The QUSRTOOL that comes with the system contains newer tools, just not the old TAA tools that are now part of the separate product Jim Sloan markets. Bruce never said the QUSRTOOL's that come with the system are supported - they aren't - but neither were the TAATOOLs when they were part of QUSRTOOL (until V3R1). TAATOOLs from Jim Sloan are fully supported.

The qusrtool that comes with the system is very old stuff and not supported
by anyone.

Just to try and clarify a point, QUSRTOOL is a no-charge optionally
installed option of OS/400. If you have OS/400, then you have QUSRTOOL
(though you may not have it loaded).

The TAA Productivity Tools, which many think of as QUSRTOOL, is a
separate product marketed by Jim Sloan, Inc.
