This is a server program providing real time transaction processing to our
customers.  Not a batch job.  But using Barbara's suggestion, I am writing
two batch programs to re-process the trapped transaction data old and new
way.  I will be looking at the job logs to evaluate the differences.

Hmm...

I was taught that the number of CPU seconds from the job log of a batch
submission was a pretty good benchmark for something like this because
there's no disk I/O.  Were they wrong?
