Thanks Guys, This has been a real good training exercise for me. I had no manuals so after a quick phone call to Evan-(thank you very much Evan)I put the 8mm tape in the machine and started from 02-D-M At the SRC prompts.......... I was forced into taking option 24 and restratching the system as I killed V3.R1 by installing a bunch of perm PTFs.One or two was corrupted and the system was screaming out with a SRC saying to install LIC. I tried option 23 of course first and the sytem came up with a SRC error probaly because it was so hosed in the first place. So I was forced into a corner and tried option 24. came up-beatifuly no further problems. I was amazed at intutive the system was to get to the DST screen,no tape errors, nothing! (Usually everytime I do an stratch install of Windows NT from Digital Unix on an Alpha I strike no end of problems--I have two large Alpha midrange Servers) Anyway from the Manual menu I chose the option to IPL then it came up with a warning that some of the disks MAY have corrupted data,do I want to load the OS with JUST the load source drive or add the other three drives into the Aux Storage pool. I was sure what to choose,so of course I chose the wrong option realizing after the fact................................ Any way Al says to start again and do a complete stratch install and others say to just add the disks from DST.Does it really make that much of a performance difference if I dont do it from stratch? My home computer room in the spare bedroom consists of a Model 200 CISC box, Model 500 RISC box(--I dont dare mess with that-hence that is why I have the model200 as a play machine.) two Digital Alpha Dual Processer Server 2000s, three Compaq Proliant 1500r racks, one Compaq Proliant Quad Processer5000r rack.(for Win2000 Advanced Server) cheers Dave -----Original Message----- From: KirkG@PacInfoSys.com <KirkG@PacInfoSys.com> To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Date: Tuesday, 31 October 2000 12:01 Subject: Re: How do I extra add disks the the storage pool? >Here's the rough outline.
