Rob,

The select files for: option is only looked at if the spooled file
parameter is *SELECT.

The possible values are:

 Spooled file (FILE)

Specifies the name of the spooled file that is to be removed from
     the output queue.

     This is a required parameter.

     The possible values are:

*SELECT
All spooled files that meet the selection values specified on
the Select files for prompt (SELECT parameter) are deleted.
This value is mutually exclusive with a value specified on the
Job name prompt (JOB parameter) or the Spooled file number
    prompt (SPLNBR parameter).

I use the DLTSPLF *SELECT alot to clean out my spooled files and it removes
all my entries for my user ID which defaults to *CURRENT.

When I prompt the command DLTSPLF I see:
Spooled file . . . . . . . . . . > AVMLEI10 Name, *SELECT
Job name . . . . . . . . . . . . > AVMLEI10 Name, *
  User . . . . . . . . . . . . . > SSAROB Name
  Number . . . . . . . . . . . . > 489802 000000-999999
Spooled file number . . . . . . *ONLY 1-9999, *ONLY, *LAST
Select files for:
  User . . . . . . . . . . . . . > *CURRENT Name, *CURRENT, *ALL
  Print device . . . . . . . . . > *ALL Name, *ALL, *OUTQ
  Form type . . . . . . . . . . > *ALL Form type, *ALL, *STD
  User data . . . . . . . . . . > 'duh' User data, *ALL

The last four parameters make no sense to me. I've had spool files with no
user data, yet specified 'duh', and the spool files were deleted anyway.
Changed the user to another name, and the spool file is deleted anyway.
Were these added eons ago with the hope of adding wild cards to Spooled
file and/or Job name, or am I missing the point of these parameters?
