<snip from Booth Martin>
Unless you have a real business need to keep your site locally, let a firm
that specializes in hosting sites hold your stuff, with links to your
machine as needed. My site is pretty simple and costs $4.96/month plus
$1/extra mailbox. I maintain it right from my machine. The provider has
lots of servers, big pipes, and a pleasant manner. Did I mention, he has
big pipes and costs $4.96/month?
<end snip>

Booth, that sounds too good to be true. I need an AS/400 host. I need to
be able to configure the HTTP server. My web applications don't use CGI,
net.data, Websphere, or Domino. Instead, my applications use a proprietary
plug-in and API's that runs in the same address space as the HTTP server. I
need to be able to maintain and back-up my database. I'm not talking about
serving static pages. I'm talking about hosting applications that could
have fairly heavy use.
