Adam - that is my whole point! It has nothing to do with programmers.
If a clerk is given a date of 01/03/02, he may key 2002 today and 2001 tomorrow, depending on what he was doing a few minutes before or how close he is paying attention, etc!

02/Mar/01 is also confusing. Is it March 2, 2001, or is it March 1, 2002?
Different countries have different standard date formats. Even different
companies in the same country use different standards. It is the programmers
responsibility to know what format the date is in and to program
accordingly.

My favorite format for at LEAST 10 years has been 02/Mar/01. No
ambiguity. A pain to enter perhaps, but that's not my job! I think
the
mm/dd/yy, dd/mm/yy ambiguity will not be a disaster but is
guarenteed to
create some problems here and there.
