Thanks for the suggestion.  Unfortunately, I tried Printronix technical
support first and they were unable to provide a solution for me.  That is
why I posted it to Midrange-L.  Yes, the problem is still unresolved.

Sounds like this is still an unsolved problem.

I discussed your situation with an ex-Printronix employee.
She is pretty sure you can turn off this "feature"
from the front panel menu.  If you call
Printronix Technical Support they may be able to help.
