You're catching on. Views and indexes both have the LF attribute. Your
basic index is like a simple keyed logical with default field
definitions from the PF. There is another kind though, the "binary
vector index", which is really cool. You can't use it directly, but
the system uses it to efficiently process select and join criteria. It
will combine several binary vector indexes on the fly, so you just
build one for each field that you expect to use as criteria and the
system takes it from there automagically. Very fast! Oh, and a table,
of course is the same as a PF.
