Hi Chris - >My question is how do iSeries shops go through the PTF >loading process? Does everyone look through the cover >letters of every PTF on a CUM, hiper, or group PTF package? HIPERs Yes, Group and CUM No. Every Friday I look at the PSP information for the CUM package that I am on, and the Defective PTFs list for the release of OS/400. For the PSP information I look at anything new since the previous Friday. I do a search based on the PTF number. That brings up a list of cover letters that include that PTF number anyplace in them. This will have the cover letter of the PTF in question as well as the cover letters of any PTFs that supersede that one. I read all of the cover letters and decide if I want to put the PTF on my system or not. For the CUM packages I usually wait until they have been out for a month or so before putting them on. By that time someone else has usually found any significant problems. I don't put on group PTFs very often, but when I do, I just take my chances. Ken Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, Inc.
