I'll say April announce, and back that with a drink a CUDS ! ;-)

OV/400 runs fine on V4R5.
Support was originally planned to be chopped with V4R4, but they extended
it to V4R5 (see below).
With the May 31 support cut off date that would mean support is
discontinued before you could even get your hands on V5R1 and install it.
The last announcement I can see says it is not supported on V5R1, which
means IBM doesn't subscribe to the "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
theory, as they are going to deliberately "fix" OS/400 to not run OV/400,
just like they deliberately "fixed" SSP Guest support with V4R5, instead
of allowing you to run it with the product unsupported, which I hardly
think would have taken a tremendous effort on their part. They would have
to enhance the product to support future OS/400 releases about as much as
you have to enhance your programs to run on future OS/400 releases - in
other words, NOTHING ! They are going to actually go to the effort of
deliberately "enhancing" OS/400 V5R1 to make sure it won't run OV/400, for
basically no other reason than to p*ss you off. I'm sure many people
would be happy to continue using it without support, but where's the money
in that for IBM ?

There are a couple of third party products available that claim to support
all functions of OV/400, including word processing with data/text merge,
and calendars. Does anyone on the list have any experience with those ?

Robin,

Uh, I'ld expect 5.1 to be out and "talkable about" BEFORE Common...which
means the FIRST part of MAY...my money would be on first week of May...

And, It's gonna be a not-to-small release...purported to be one of the
biggies ever for the 400...but time will tell...
